Altering lightppd configs

Does anyone know if its possible to alter the configuration file for the built in server?

I want to alter some settings.

I know its possible to install lightppd, but that's not what I am looking for.

To date the only way I can see doing this is to take a snapshot of the config, copy and amend then restart.

Anyone got a better method?
