Hello,
I emailed ZyXEL the following question. I am still waiting for their reply, but would also appreciate any feed back from owners of this product.
"Checking to see if the ZyXEL USG 20 will meet my requirements.
My system is a home based network, which currently has an Apple Airport Extreme wireless router handling all of its needs. My interest in adding the USG 20 is for it's VPN feature only.
The plan:
I would like to add the USG 20 as a device to my existing network and assign it an address within my current dhcp range and then have the Airport Extreme forward any required ports to the USG 20. The USG 20 would then provide only a VPN service so that I could remotely connect to my network through an iPhone using L2TP. Once on the home network I could then connect to my IP cameras just as if I were at home. Currently the IP cameras have very poor remote security, so remote access has been disabled.
Questions:
Is this possible to do as I have described?
Can I just ignore or turn off all of the other features in the USG 20 and only use the VPN?"
Thanks!
Mike
