Asus dsl-n55u

Hello All,

I hope someone can help me please

I have been running a server and some basic networking for some time now, my previous router (Billion 7402NX BiPAC VPN ADSL 2+ Gigabit Wireless-N Router W/ 3G/HSDPA) did the job perfectly. I recently purchased the ASUS DSL-N55U and I've spent way too much time trying to do the simplest thing.

My network simply runs an internal server which hosts a website service and an email service. So all I need to do is direct ports 25 and 80 to a static internal IP address of the server. I open the firewall for those ports and that’s it.

I cannot for the life of me work out what this ASUS router is doing, I have used D-Link’s, Billion’s and Netgear’s in the past and with no problem, I'm not an expert nor am I an amateur.
On the ASUS web interface;
1. I have enabled port forwarding for the ports to the internal IP address, no routing occurs
2. I have added firewall rules to add the ports to the white list, no routing occurs, as soon as I do this all web browsing stops
3. I have disabled the firewall completely, no routing occurs
4. My ISP does not block these ports, because as soon as I reconnect the old Billion router all mail flows again
5. I have updated the firmware to the latest via the ASUS interface

Can anyone offer any suggestions please or even better any screen dumps, becasue as simple and user friendly this interface appears, its not logical.

Thank you in advance
