Does Switch Chipset Model Matter?

I just purchased a Asus GX-D1081 v3 8 port switch and I am wondering if I should open it up and take a look at the design? I see that many switches seem to die over some short time and I am wondering if I affix a proper heat sink to the chipset could this prolong its life? Also, would I be able to find data on the chip if I can read model numbers on it? Switch will be doing a LOT of 720P and 1080P streaming.
